Fall has arrived at the farmers market
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Walking up to the farmers market this week, I was overtaken by the fall feeling. The morning air was still a little crisp, and pumpkins and squash have joined the amazing heirloom tomatoes I went crazy over last visit.
I have to let everyone know that I was corrected and the market will actually be open through Oct. 11 this year, which is a great day, as it happens to be my birthday!
After enjoying all the fresh produce on its own last time, my mission today was to pick up ingredients to orchestrate a meal.
In remarking on all the squash, my girlfriend went crazy with stories about spaghetti squash. Ever had it? I had not so off I went, filling bags of spaghetti squash and fresh basil, and of course tomatoes.
Once home, I starting searching for recipes and then “BAM!” I found a great one, courtesy of Emeril Lagasse, for Herbed Spaghetti Squash. It was so simple and tasty … a must try for all this fall.
I found pairing it with a light pinot noir was a nice complement to bring out the flavors.
What’s cooking in your kitchen this fall? Bon appetit!
