Fallon woman dies Saturday at Sand Harbor

INCLINE VILLAGE – A woman died Saturday afternoon at Sand Harbor State Park when she apparently complained of abdominal pain shortly after diving into Lake Tahoe.

The Washoe County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the woman as 67-year old Marie Wolf, a Fallon resident. A cause of death has yet to be released.

According to a Washoe County Sheriff’s Office report, Wolf was scuba diving with an instructor in the area. At one point, she exited the water, complained of the pain and collapsed on the beach at about 3:25 p.m.

Deputies responded within minutes and began CPR when they found Wolf unconscious and not breathing, ceding duties to personnel from the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District when they arrived a short time later.

A CareFlight helicopter landed about 3:50 p.m., and Wolf was pronounced dead by 4:09 p.m.

The woman’s body was taken to the coroner’s office in Reno where the county’s medical examiner performed a Monday autopsy, the results of which could take up to four months to be known, officials said.
