SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Nearly 550 people came out Saturday to South Tahoe Middle School for Barton’s Family Health Day.

The school’s multi-purpose room was filled with more than 30 interactive, health-related booths and screenings provided by Barton Health, local health-related businesses and non-profits.

Medical experts were be on-hand and provided free screenings from artery disease, stress tests, body mass index to skin cancer checks.

In addition to health screenings, children and adults got moving with jump ropes and hula hoops. Educators taught healthful eating habits. Free fingerprinting was available for children. The CALSTAR helicopter was also on display.

Barton Family Health Day is held in partnership with the South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, Latino Affairs Commission and El Dorado County of Public Health. It’s supported by Optimist International of South Lake Tahoe, Barton Foundation and Embassy Suites for their generous sponsorships.
