Farad Fire Update for July 16: 100 percent containment; all lanes open on Interstate 80

The Farad Fire was 100 percent contained as of Sunday, July 16, authorities said.

The report comes nearly a week after the wildfire started in the hills adjacent to Interstate 80 about 12 miles northeast of Truckee.

The fire, which started about 1 p.m. on Monday, July 10, burned 747 acres.

Firefighters have made significant progress on the Farad Fire, which was 81 percent contained as of Saturday morning, July 15, authorities said.

The wildfire has consumed 747 acres in an area about 12 miles northeast of Truckee in the hills adjacent to Interstate 80.

All I-80 eastbound and westbound lanes are open. No injuries have been reported.
