Farmer’s markets begin this week at two locations

Farm fresh produce is on its way to South Shore this week with the opening of two farmer’s markets and a third one to follow next month.

The El Dorado County Certified Farmer’s Market opens for the season on Tuesday at the American Legion Hall in South Lake Tahoe. It will continue on Tuesdays through mid-October. The county market will open a second venue on Fridays beginning July 2 at the Parks and Recreation Complex. It will continue until Sept. 10.

Not to be outdone, the Sierra Farmer’s Markets of Douglas County will open the Kahle Community Park Farmer’s Market on Friday. That organization also operates a farmers’ market in Gardnerville in Lampe Park on Wednesdays beginning this week.

All the markets are open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Sierra Farmer’s Markets and the El Dorado County Certified Farmers Markets feature a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables in season as well as variety of homemade items from soaps to birdhouses.
