‘Fifty ways to love your school’ auction set for May 22
Whittell High School and Zephyr Cove Elementary Boosters
Sure Paul Simon said there were “50 Ways to Leave your Lover,” but Whittell High School is celebrating 50 years of academic excellence and it’s time for a big party called “50 Ways to Love Your School.”
The spring auction fundraiser will be held May 22 at 6 p.m. at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.
MontBleu will be transformed into the greatest anniversary party ever with a walk down memory lane, a silent auction, a wine toss, a fast-paced live auction featuring fun nostalgic items, dinner, dancing and more.
Proceeds raised will benefit the students at both Whittell High School and Zephyr Cove Elementary School. Last year’s event distributed $40,000 directly into the classrooms with technology such as “Smart Boards” and other teacher tools, sports uniforms and equipment, enrichment activities and field trips.
Teachers and students are benefiting from the school auction fundraising.
“The kids are astonished by the new touch screen in our second grade class,” said teacher Susan Desrosiers. “And, my Homework Club students used the board to take Reading Counts quizzes and I had a line.”
There are plenty of ways (at least 50) to support (and love) these schools.
“We’re asking our community to donate anything that will make our silent and live auctions stand out from the crowd,” said school event planner Tara Addeo. “We also have a really fun ‘Wine Toss’ this year so we’re also looking for wine donations.”
The May 22 event is the Nevada lake schools’ biggest fundraiser, and for those in the community looking to help, the event Web site is http://www.zceswhittell.schoolauction.net/50ways/ where tickets can be purchased, auction items reviewed and it includes a proper tax letter can be obtained for credit for your donation.
Specific sponsorships and levels are available and all sponsorships are tax deductible.
Gifts to the auction must be received by April 23 to be included in the auction program and delivered to Zephyr Cove Elementary School, Forever Dance or Studio D, behind the Round Hill Safeway.
The community is also invited to join the school auction fan page at http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Annual-Spring-Auction-for-GWHS-and-ZCES/350064029802?ref=ts.
