Filing period opens for November races

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The filing period for three city council seats, as well as the city clerk and city treasurer positions up for grabs during the Nov. 2 election opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 12, according to a statement from the city.

The filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 unless an incumbent fails to file a nomination. For races where an incumbent does not file, the filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, according to the statement.

All interested persons must be registered voters in South Lake Tahoe at the time nomination papers are issued.

The city does not have a filing fee, but there is a charge for candidates wishing to file and print a candidate statement of qualifications in the sample ballot. The fee for is $335 for printing in English, $431 for printing in Spanish and $760 for both, according to the statement.
