Filing period opens for November races

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The filing period for three city council seats, as well as the city clerk and city treasurer positions up for grabs during the Nov. 2 election opens at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 12, according to a statement from the city.

The filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 unless an incumbent fails to file a nomination. For races where an incumbent does not file, the filing period closes at 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, according to the statement.

All interested persons must be registered voters in South Lake Tahoe at the time nomination papers are issued.



The city does not have a filing fee, but there is a charge for candidates wishing to file and print a candidate statement of qualifications in the sample ballot. The fee for is $335 for printing in English, $431 for printing in Spanish and $760 for both, according to the statement.

All official forms for declaring candidacy for the City Council seats and City Treasurer position can be obtained at the city clerk’s office at 1901 Airport Road.

The last day to register to vote for the November election is Oct. 18.
