Final meeting expected for Redistricting

The El Dorado County Redistricting Committee is expected to hold its final meeting to gather public opinion on county redistricting plans today in El Dorado Hills at 3 p.m.

The committee submitted two redistricting plans to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors May 8. The two plans were the Strawberry Plan and the Pollock Pines Plan. The Pollock Pines Plan raised controversy in the county because it proposes to expand District 5 west along the U.S. Highway 50 corridor to incorporate South Lake Tahoe and Pollock Pines in the same district.

At the May 8 meeting the Board of Supervisors requested the redistricting committee hold public meetings on the proposed plans and redraw the maps based on their findings.

The committee is expected to submit final proposals to the Board of Supervisors by the June 15 deadline for final recommendations.
