Final Tahoe-Truckee housing study report to be released soon
TRUCKEE, Calif. — The final Tahoe-Truckee Regional Housing Study report, which is currently under the review by a technical advisory group, is expected to be revealed soon.
“The community foundation right now is still deciding how this will come to the public,” Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation Project Manager Sara Schrichte said Wednesday.
She said once the report is finalized, it will go online for the public to access, but the foundation is still deciding on strategies to help the public access the information.
The next step for the foundation is to develop a housing council that would be tasked with creating an action plan based on recommendations from the final report, Schrichte said.
“I think it’s important for the public to know that we didn’t want to just create a study that would just sit there,” said Schrichte. “We’re going to continue moving forward and looking for funding to implement solutions.”
From there, a third step will be to find funding for whatever action plan is developed. Those funds could come from a variety of sources, like grants and local fundraising, she said.
In preparation of the report’s release, the community foundation recently created the Housing Solutions Fund to attract potential donors, but right now it isn’t certain what will feed that fund.
TTCF launched the Tahoe-Truckee Regional Housing Study earlier this year. It encapsulated two parts: a needs assessment performed by Bay Area Urban Economics, and a community outreach portion (including a series of public forums) to understand the realities of Tahoe-Truckee residents and stakeholders.
The project is funded by the town of Truckee, Workforce Housing Association of Truckee Tahoe, Nevada County and Placer County.
