Fire contained at Tahoe Seasons Resort

Jim Grant / Tahoe Daily Tribune / Guests and employees at the Tahoe Seasons Resort were evacuated due to a room fire on Monday.

A room fire broke out at about 11 a.m. Monday at the Tahoe Seasons Resort on Saddle Road in South Lake Tahoe.

The fire started in a single room on the eighth floor near the fireplace, said South Lake Tahoe Fire Department Division Chief Russ Dow. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation and remains undetermined, Dow said.

One sprinkler head above the fire was able to control the fire until crews arrived on the scene, Dow said.

There were no injuries, but the room suffered substantial smoke damage, and the room and rooms below it suffered water damage from the sprinkler system, Dow said.

Guests were allowed to return to their rooms about two hours after fire crews arrived, and guests on the eighth floor were moved to other rooms, Dow said. Tahoe Seasons Resort could not be reached for comment.
