Provided to the Tribune

Fire Fest will be held Saturday at the South Lake Tahoe airport.

The event, which is free, will highlight fire and life safety for children and families. Helicopters will land at the airport. Guests will have an opportunity to sit in a fire truck, escape from the Smoke House, wear firefighting equipment, squirt fire hoses, play in a bounce house, meet Smokey Bear and Sparky, watch fire departments compete, learn about fire resistant construction and enjoy a Kiwanis barbecue.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the airport, 1901 Airport Road in South Lake Tahoe. For more information, contact Jeanne Lear at 530-542-8366 or Leona Allen at 530-577-3737 or visit http://www.cityofslt.us.
