Fire station to host blood drive

Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District will host a blood drive Jan. 30 in Zephyr Cove.

Fire Chief Ben Sharit has committed to host blood drives in Zephyr Cove every two months in an effort to provide residents with a consistent and convenient location to donate.

“TDFPD wants to do whatever we can to ensure that the blood supply needs in our community are always met,” Sharit said in a press release.

Donors can now complete their health history questionnaire online on the day of their donation. By choosing to fill out the online questionnaire before they come to the blood drive, doors will likely reduce the in-person interview to only a few essential follow-up questions.

Donors who complete the online health history questionnaire print out a Fast Track Donation Ticket and bring it with them to the blood drive.

United Blood Services will host the blood drive at the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District Station No. 3, 193 Elks Point Road in Zephyr Cove from noon to 5:30 p.m.

To schedule an appointment, log on to and use the sponsor code: TAHOEFIRE or contact Kate or Carrie at 588-3591.
