First weeks of Little League packed with action
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The opening weekend of Little League play in South Lake Tahoe didn’t come without an outstanding performance.
Sunday, May 1, in what was the final game of the opening weekend play, the A’s played host to the Dodgers a what was a six-inning gem for A’s pitcher Levi Greco.
Greco pounded the strike zone and kept the Dodgers’ lineup off-balance all night, striking out a career high 11 batters in a hard fought 3-2 A’s win.
Greco started the game strong, recording a strikeout of the side in the first inning. He walked just one. In the second he was just as sharp, striking out the side once more before he got met Dawson Shamus who raked a double for the Dodgers.
Greco though continued throwing well. The hurler struck out three more Dodgers in the third, then followed it up by punching out two in the fourth when his team’s offense started doing some work as well.
Bodin Schwarz and Greco each stole home to put the score at 2-0 going into the third. In the fourth is when the Dodgers made it 2-1 as Kody Griffis stole home. He duplicated that effort in the sixth, tying the game with the A’s coming to bat in the bottom half, looking for the win.
Keith Zeitler singled and rounded the bases, finally stealing home on a passed ball ending the game with a 3-2 A’s win.
