Flamenco dance comes to Valhalla

Virginia Iglesias and Alma Flamenca, a San Francisco-based flamenco dance company, will present their newly choreographed performance titled AIRE at 7:30 p.m. July 11 at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater, Tallac Historic Site. Admission is $9 general, $7.50 for seniors and $4.75 for children 6 to 12 years of age. Tickets are available in advance or at the door. Iglesias, founder and director of the performing group as well as director of the Flamenco Academy of Dance in San Francisco, has toured with Spanish dance companies throughout Europe and has performed extensively throughout the Bay Area. Along with Iglesias, the program will feature her company including six dancers, invited guest artist “La Monica” and musical director and flamenco guitarist Jorge Liceaga, accompanied by violinist Sandra Poindexter, percussionist Sage Baggott and flamenco singer “El Moreno.”
