Flu suspected cause in Carson girl’s death
A 12-year old Carson City girl died Tuesday from what doctors suspect is Influenza B.
Kyra Conway first felt sick on Feb. 5 after coming back from Disneyland. Her family believed her symptoms were related to her asthma. She started having pain in her chest last Friday and went to Carson Tahoe Hospital where doctors treated her asthma.
But over the weekend her condition worsened until she was back in the hospital with a high fever and pneumonia. She was flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno, where doctors could not stabilize her. They flew her to UC Davis Medical Center for an emergency procedure to restore her breathing, but she died en route.
A celebration of Kyra’s life is tentatively scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center.
