Fluorescent light bulb giveaway is today

Provided to the Tribune

South Lake Tahoe residents can receive as many as 12 free compact fluorescent light bulbs today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sierra Pacific Power office at 933 Eloise Ave.

“These 60-watt-equivalent lights use up to 75 percent less energy and can last up to 10 times longer than standard incandescent bulbs, and they can be used almost anywhere you would normally use a regular incandescent bulb,” said John Hargrove, project manager for energy efficiency and conservation at Sierra Pacific Power.

To get the free light bulbs, bring in the “Looks Funny, Saves Money” coupon from your August power bill. Sierra Pacific Power customers who don’t have the coupon that was enclosed with their bill can bring in their bill stub to take advantage of this offer. Landlords may be provided with enough bulbs for their rental units.

Quantities are limited and the lights will be distributed to Sierra Pacific residential customers only on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to today’s giveaway, CFLs are available at discounted prices in the Reno-Sparks area at Home Depot, Lowe’s, Big Lots, Dollar Tree, King’s Ranch Market, and at Scolari’s and Sak ‘n’ Save supermarkets.
