Focus of kids’ workshop is acting, singing and dancing
August 2, 2005
A week of children’s theater comes to the South Shore with a performing arts workshop for children 5 to 15.
The workshop will take place from 9:15 a.m. to noon Aug. 8-12 and will focus on acting skills, singing and dancing.
Participants will work on improvisation, audition skills, script reading, and songs and dances from a variety of musicals.
Former South Tahoe resident Lucas Pakes will direct various aspects of the workshop. Pakes received his degree in theater with an emphasis in education from Cal State Fullerton.
While Pakes was growing up on the South Shore he was featured in leading roles from his days in children’s theater through high school. He will be joined by a variety of guest instructors including professional choreographer Bryant Cash Welsh, whose recent work includes a variety of musicals in the Bay Area.
“Every summer while I was growing up, the South Tahoe Children’s Theater Company put on wonderful productions. Everyone who participated learned so much and had a great time doing it. I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned with this generation of young actors,” Pakes said.
