Folk music will find a home this week at South Lake Tahoe’s Unity at the Lake, which hosts singer-songwriter Keith Greeninger Friday.

“To give you an idea of his influences and peers, this Friday he’s opening for John Hiatt in Santa Cruz and his recent recording featured members of Little Feat and the Bonnie Raitt Band,” said event organizer John Friedrich said in an email. “His soulful folk style reminds me of Martin Sexton.

“I heard Keith a couple of years ago at concerts connected to a songwriters workshop near Yosemite. I was really taken by his engaging style, compelling musicality and thoughtful lyrics.”

Greeninger is the founder of seminal Americana trio City Folk. His blend of acoustic rock and folk is deeply influenced by his work with Native American and Latin cultures.

“As a singer-songwriter, Keith paints intricate portraits of the human condition with powerful melodic images, deep engaging guitar rhythms and husky, heart-wrenching vocals,” according to his online biography. “His masterfully crafted tunes and powerful presence have earned him the top songwriting awards at the prestigious Telluride Blue Grass Festival, The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Napa Valley Folk Festival. Keith has toured the national Folk and Americana circuit extensively for over two decades.”

Unity at the Lake is located at 1195 Rufus Allen Blvd.
