So International Entertainment is brewing up a tournament of sorts that includes South Lake Tahoe.
The West Coast Beer Pong Tour will include South Lake Tahoe as a stop. The other California stops are Chico, Roseville and Newark, along with Tempe, Ariz.
The South Lake Tahoe tournament will run from 4 p.m. to close on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Beach Hut Deli, 1072 Emerald Bay Road. The tournament is open to entrants 21-and-older for a $40 fee in advance, or $60 the day of the event. Cash prizes run as high as $1,000, and the grand prize is entry to the 2009 World Series of Beer Pong at the Flamingo in Las Vegas, along with the hotel stay. Former World Cup moguls skier Chris Hernandez opened the local Beach Hut Deli franchise this year along with his wife, Brooke, his cousin Jason Keating and his wife, Tamara. The restaurant serves sandwiches and sides along with beer and wine.
“It’s a deli with a five-star attitude,” Jason Keating told the Tahoe Daily Tribune in April.
