Food distribution to take place in Zephyr Cove
The Department of Agriculture will distribute food to low-income Nevada residents on Thursday.
Frozen meat, canned fruit, pasta and juice are some of the items that will be handed out. Preference will be given to residents who have received food in past months, but any Nevada resident with income less than $1,350 per month is eligible to receive food. No proof of income is necessary, but participants must show a Nevada ID to prove residency and a form signed, stating that gross monthly income does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty level. Participants must bring a bag or box in which to take items home. Larger households qualify for more commodities.
The distribution will take place from 9-10 a.m. at the Tahoe Douglas Senior Center, 885 Highway 50 in Zephyr Cove, north of the fire station near Warrior Way.
