Forest Service OK’s Tahoe ski resort test wells
April 15, 2009
The U.S. Forest Service has given the go-ahead for Heavenly Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe to drill two test wells to determine availability of water for snowmaking operations.
Officials say the wells are expected to be drilled this summer on Forest Service land within the resort’s permit boundary.
If the wells are successful, they will be temporarily capped. Environmental studies and public comment are required before any permanent production wells are approved.
