Forest Service seeks volunteers to restore lookout

Staff report

The U.S. Forest Service seeks volunteers to help revitalize the historic Angora Lookout on Angora Ridge near South Lake Tahoe.

Over the years, the historic structure has deteriorated and is in need of restoration in order to preserve an important part of Tahoe’s fire observation history, according to a statement form the Forest Service.

The renovation will concentrate on the exterior of the original lookout building and the garage, according to the statement.

The Forest Service is in search of service groups and individuals who are willing to invest one or two days during the next month to help paint and refurbish this historic set of buildings.
