Former South Lake Tahoe City Manager Kerry Miller has taken a job with Folsom as city manager, leaving Encinitas in northern San Diego County. His first day on the job will be Oct. 15.

Miller, who has 30 years of municipal management experience, served in the top post of South Lake Tahoe government between 1987 to 1999.

Miller, 55, said he wants to spend more time with family as the reason for the professional change. His son Andy Miller lives on the South Shore.

“I think it’s going to be a fun, professional opportunity,” he said Tuesday.

Folsom has its history, but it’s also a growth area. Miller said one of the local government’s goals revolves around developing a comprehensive housing program. Miller helped spearhead redevelopment efforts when he worked in South Lake Tahoe.
