Former president Carter to campaign for son in Nevada

RENO (AP) – Nevada U.S. Senate hopeful Jack Carter will have some lofty company when he kicks off his campaign next week – his dad.

Former President Jimmy Carter is expected to accompany his son to Las Vegas and Carson City on Monday when he launches his Senate bid.

Jack Carter, 58, is the only Democrat to announce a challenge against incumbent Republican Sen. John Ensign, who is seeking his second, six-year term.

He said Monday’s visit won’t be his father’s only trip to Nevada.

“I don’t know how often, but I’m sure he’ll be back,” Jack Carter said. “He wants me to win.”

Carter and his wife, Elizabeth, moved to Las Vegas three years ago and run an investment consulting business.
