Former South Lake man dies in accident

Two men riding motorcycles collided Friday afternoon northwest of Eagle Canyon Road leaving one man dead and the other seriously injured.

David Douglas Taylor, a 33-year-old from Sun Valley, Nev., who was born and raised in South Lake Tahoe, was pronounced dead at the scene. James Boody, a 26-year-old from Sparks, Nev., was careflighted to Washoe Medical Center and is in critical condition. Michael Hillary, also of Sparks, was riding along with Boody and Taylor but was not involved in the accident.

Washoe County Sheriff’s Department reported that the three were riding on a dirt trail when one man separated from the group going farther up the trail. At some point he turned around and rode back to regroup with his friends. A deputy reported that both men were riding at high speeds when they collided on or near a hill.

A mass will be held for Taylor Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Therese of the Little Flower Catholic Church at 875 E. Plumb Lane in Reno, Nev.
