Foundation accepting grant applications

El Dorado Community Foundation is accepting applicants for funding from its South Lake Tahoe Endowment Fund.

This year, the foundation will give $70,000 to programs and services that enhance the lives of youth in the South Lake Tahoe area, a press release stated. Nonprofit organizations, churches, schools and service organizations are encouraged to apply. Grants of up to $5,000 will be considered with funding issued in the fall.

The SLT Endowment is comprised of both the Joan Rochelle Fund and South Lake Tahoe Area Fund at the foundation. The cabinet for the fund is comprised of Mark Acri, Wendy David, Bob Novasel, Karen Houser and Doug Rosner. In the past five years, the cabinet has granted more than $350,000 for the benefit of the people of South Lake Tahoe.

Organizations that have a qualifying program or people who would like to nominate a program for an award can access an application at The members of the cabinet are also available to answer questions, as is the foundation office at 530-622-5621. Grant applications are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 16. They can be mailed to the El Dorado Community Foundation office, P.O. Box 1388, Placerville, CA 95667.
