Free USDA food distribution to Nevada residents Thursday

There will be a USDA food distribution for Nevada residents from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the Tahoe Douglas Senior Center, 885 Highway 50, next to the fire station at Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.

Residents must have a valid Nevada ID and affirm that his/her gross income per month does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. For an individual this would be $1353.75 per month; for a family of four, income must not exceed $2,756.

There will be an additional distribution Nov. 18.

The commodities to be distributed are canned goods, frozen meats, cheese, peanut butter and dry beans.

The program is administered by the state of Nevada and offered by Tahoe Douglas Senior Center volunteers. Call 775-688-2828 for information.
