Fresno man dies in motorcycle crash on US 50 near Twin Bridges
A Fresno man died and his wife suffered major injuries after they were ejected from their motorcycle on U.S. 50 near Twin Bridges Friday, Sept. 29.
Christopher and Susan Deboer were riding their 1986 Harley-Davidson east on U.S. 50 just east of Twin Bridges around 2 p.m. Friday, according to California Highway Patrol. The two were traveling at an unknown speed as they approached Slippery Ford Road.
Christopher, 70, allowed the bike to drift — for an unknown reason — from the center of the eastbound lane to the right, leaving the roadway and the shoulder, according to CHP. The motorcycle struck the guardrail along the south edge of the highway, throwing both of them off the bike and over the embankment.
The two fell down the hillside and suffered major injuries.
Several people stopped to help the Deboers, who were transported to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno via air.
Christopher was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Susan, 52, received multiple lacerations and fractures. Her injuries were described in a collision report as being “major.”
