SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Friday is the the last day to purchase holiday tree permits, according to a statement from the U.S. Forest Service.

Permits are sold at the Forest Service’s office at 35 College Drive in South Lake Tahoe. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Permit holders should respect private property by not trespassing when entering or leaving designated cutting areas.. Harvesting smaller diameter trees offers residents and visitors a traditional holiday experience while helping to thin the forest, according to the statement.
