Stomping Grounds, The Playground

Kirkwood reports more than 60 kilometers of groomed trail for skiing, ski skating and snowshoeing. Upper trail system (Schneider camp) is open. 

Early season conditions exist, ski and ride with care, watch for obstacles that may be marked or unmarked. Ice skating rink now open. Upcoming events: Kirkwood cup Sunday, New Years Eve Torchlight parade and fireworks on Monday.

On its Web site the resort reports that it plans to operate 22 lifts today with skiing and riding on 45 runs. The groomers pick of the day is Canyon.

Please observe all posted closures. Resort officials report that while tree skiing is good, there are still many hidden obstacles if skiers and boarders venture off the open trail system. Lifts open this morning at 8:30 a.m.
