Fund-raiser helps Mexican children

The Amigos De Los Niños (Friends of the Children) fund-raiser will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in front of Cabo Wabo in the tunnel between Harveys and Harrah’s. The event coincides with the Sammy Hagar concert slated at Harveys outdoor theater the same day. Proceeds will benefit Amigos De Los Niños, a nonprofit that provides medical care and more to the children of Mexico.

The organization provides a wide range of help from basic items such as vitamins to life-saving surgery. Each year ADLN holds medical clinics in Los Cabos with doctors from the U.S. They also fly special case children with conditions such as leukemia, heart defects and other life threatening diseases to mainland Mexico and the U.S. for medical services that are not available in the poor areas of Baja.

The public is invited to come by and sign up for the silent auction, make a donation and enter to win a trip for two to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The trip includes airfare from Sun Trips, four days and three nights at the Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar, and tickets to see Sammy Hagar at his annual birthday bash on Oct. 13. Other auction items include an acoustic guitar autographed by Peter Frampton, Cabo Wabo tequila signed by Sammy Hagar, NASCAR and celebrity memorabilia, CDs, sunglasses, gift certificates, posters and albums.

The fund-raiser is sponsored by Cabo Wabo Enterprises.
