Fundraiser for teacher’s family will be on Jan. 31
The South Tahoe Middle School Parent Teacher Association will host a fundraiser to support Scott Hudson’s family Jan. 31.
Hudson began working for the Lake Tahoe Unified School District in 1985 and was a physical education teacher at STMS and coach at South Tahoe High school.
Hudson died Jan. 2 after a three-year battle with esophageal cancer. He was diagnosed with his cancer just weeks after losing their home in the Angora fire.
The fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. in the STMS multi-purpose room and will include a chili and cornbread feed.
Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. and a silent auction will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. The fundraiser will also include a bake sale, quilt raffle and 50/50 raffle. The quilt was handmade by friends of Hudson.
Tickets can be purchased at any Lake Tahoe Unified District school office or at the District Office at 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd. Tickets purchased prior to the event are $5 for children younger than 8, $10 for seniors, $10 for adults and $25 for a family ticket. Prices increase by $5 at the door the day of the event.
Quilt raffle tickets and are available for $5 each or 5 for $20. Raffle tickets for the quilt can also be purchased at those sites and at Cork and More and Grass Roots Natural Foods.
Tickets will be available at the door on the evening of the event.
Donations are being accepted for silent auction items. They can be dropped off at the STMS office.
Music for the event will be provided by Eric Allmeroth and Howard Coleman. Dancing will be by students from Miss Marcia’s Dance Studio.
