Art for the Home gallery at Ski Run Marina invites artists, Tahoe residents and winter visitors to a Holiday Extravaganza from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14. Wine, cider and holiday treats will be served.

Along with a wide selection of nature- and wildlife-themed art, the holiday event will showcase the gallery’s new jewelry lines, including fine jewelry custom designs by Oscar Lugo, Swarovski crystal designs by Cowabunga Baby, sterling-silver designs by Annette Schoonover based on her bronze figurative sculptures, and original beaded designs by l. gallucci.

“Jewelry is wearable art that you can enjoy and show the world every day,” said gallery owner Janette Dean. “Just like art makes our homes beautiful and promotes a sense of well-being, jewelry makes our appearances beautiful and helps us express who we feel like on any given day – a modern, traditional, unique, minimalist or earthy person.”

Also highlighted at the extravaganza will be fine-art photographer Keith Price’s new images of polar bears taken three weeks ago in Churchill, Canada.

“It was an amazing experience to be with polar bears in their arctic environment,” Price said. “They are so gorgeous and powerful, and extremely specialized to thrive in the extreme cold. Now that they are so threatened, I just had to experience them up close and try to pay homage to them with my photography. I pray the world can figure out a way to save them from extinction in their natural environment.”

Refreshments also will be served througout the week.
