Gardnerville apartment fire an accident

GARDNERVILLE — The cause of last month’s fire, which left four people of a Gardnerville apartment with severe burns, has been ruled accidental.

East Fork Fire and Paramedic Districts Investigator Terry Taylor said the fire had nothing to do with a drug lab, which had been rumored. Investigators found nothing related to such inside the apartment, which tops Mary’s Hair Conspiracy and Active Nails at 1491 Highway 395.

An account has been set up at the Bank of America for the Collins family, No. 004965603166.

“We could still use some money to get them set up in the apartment,” said Stacey Holst, whose father has rented the apartment to the family for five years. “We were afraid because of that rumor people wouldn’t donate money.”

Tina Ellington, Rick Collins and Jenny Collins have all been discharged from Washoe Medical Center. Cody Collins remains at Las Vegas’ University Medical Center.
