Tribune staff reports

A Gardnerville man died June 16 after falling off his bicycle while riding on Blue Lakes Road south of Highway 88, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) announced Thursday.

Richard F. Walters was riding north on Blue Lakes Road in the northbound lane when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of his bicycle and was ejected onto the roadway, striking his head and rolling several times. Walters suffered blunt head trauma and scrapes to his knees and body. He was flown to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

The California Highway Patrol anyone with additional information to contact Officer C. Thompson at the South Lake Tahoe CHP office at 577-1001.
