SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Police arrested a South Lake Tahoe woman on suspicion of attempted robbery this week after she allegedly drew a gun on a clerk at American Gas Wednesday afternoon.

About 4:45 p.m., Randi Noonan, 27, allegedly entered the store, brandished a handgun at a lone female clerk and demanded money, according to a statement from police.

“The clerk confronted the would be robber, disarmed the suspect and chased the suspect from the business,” according to the statement.

The clerk was able to get a license plate from the vehicle Noonan was driving, according to police. The license plate number led to Noonan’s Sierra Tract home, where she was arrested Wednesday night and booked into El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe.

The gun used in the attempted robbery turned out to be a very real looking BB gun, said Sgt. Cm Carmichael.

Noonan remained in custody Thursday afternoon. It is unknown if she has an attorney.
