Gayla Lynn Guilfoyle

Gayla Lynn Guilfoyle, who died April 21, 2005, was born Feb. 17, 1953, in Modesto, Calif., to Lois and George Radcliffe. She graduated from U.C. Davis with a bachelor’s degree in business in 1975. She also was certified by the American Institute of Banking, and held a California Real Estate license.

In 1980, Gayla co-founded the Nevada Banking Company (now known as Colonial Bank) with Jim Koch. She also organized American Institute of Banking classes in Lake Tahoe for local banks. Previously, Gayla served as vice-president/comptroller of Community Federal Savings Bank.

In 1986, Gayla co-founded OptiComp Corporation with her husband Peter, where she served as vice-president of administration until the present. Gayla was a charter member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at U.C. Davis, was an executive board member of the Lake Tahoe Nevada Republican Women, and active in the Parent’s Club of Zephyr Cove Elementary School. She was also an active member of the Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church.

Gayla is survived by her husband of 19 years, Peter Guilfoyle, and sons, Peter Guilfoyle Junior, and Richard. Also, by mother and step-father Lois and Harry Roberson of Twain Harte, Calif., and sister Layna and brother-in-law Ron Dailey of Modesto and nephews Corey, and Evan Valek.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. April 26 at McFarlane Mortuary. A private family burial service will be in Modesto. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. May 2 at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
