Colin Hupp, Tahoe Daily Tribune

Douglas County Commissioners met Thursday and approved the redistricting plan that includes putting Genoa with the Lake Tahoe Basin portion of District 4.

The valley town will remain a portion of the basin district until the next U.S. Census in 2010.

The commissioners also approved a 6.89 percent increase in collection rates for South Tahoe Refuse.

Additionally, the county staff was directed to file a Letter of Intent with the Nevada Environmental Protection Agency to apply for AB 198 grant funds for capital improvements to the Skyland/Cave Rock water district. This is the first step in acquiring grant funding for this project.

Also approved by the commissioners:

n A contract for construction of the China Springs Youth Camp to K. W. Construction’s bid of $858,700.

n A permit for the Peddler’s Fair next September in Genoa.

n A permit for the Annual Candy Dance Arts and Crafts Fair next September in Genoa.
