GENOA, Nev. – Genoa received 8 inches of snow in after a winter storm raced through Western Nevada, leaving road controls on most major highways Saturday morning.

Snow tires or chains are being required on Highway 395 from Pleasant Valley south to Stephanie Way and from Minden south to at least Bridgeport.

Snow tires and chains are also being required on Highway 88 until Paynesville, where chains or four-wheel drive are the rule.

All mountain highways around the lake are under some sort of road restriction.

Heavenly reported only 3 inches of new snow on the mountain. Kirkwood reported 3-5 inches, though the forecast calls for another foot.
