George Whittell senior chosen for national environmental summit

Haley Marchini, an incoming senior at George Whittell High School in Zephyr Cove, has been selected to represent California as a National Youth Delegate at the 2010 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University July 11-16.

Marchini joins a group of 150 students nationwide chosen for the intensive study of leadership in environmental science and conservation. Marchini was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in leadership in the sciences and conservation studies.

The event is hosted by George Mason University, along with partners National Geographic and the National Zoo.
