The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 33-year-old Georgetown man in connection with a narcotics investigation associated with a fatal shooting in South Lake Tahoe last month.

Authorities arrested Tevaraz Lopez on multiple drug charges, weapons charges and probation violations following a Feb. 2 SWAT Team operation off of Mine Car Lane in Georgetown, California, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.

There are two separate investigations surrounding the Jan. 30 shooting of 40-year-old Dennis Wright Jr. outside the Beverly Lodge, a narcotics investigation and a homicide investigation, said El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jim Byers. Lopez is associated with the narcotics investigation. He is not a suspect in the fatal shooting of Wright, Byers said.

Police continue to work with partner agencies to identify the suspects in the shooting of Wright, which police believe was the result of a drug deal gone sour.

One of the California Penal Codes associated with Lopez’s arrest is the code used for the manufacture of concentrated cannabis, known as hash oil or honey oil.

Lopez remained in custody in El Dorado County Jail in Placerville Thursday afternoon, Feb. 11. It is unknown if he has an attorney.
