Geotourism project seeks community nominations
July 25, 2009
Got a favorite spot, diner or store that’s sustainable? A new geotourism project is looking for nominations.
Community members can nominate their favorite activities, trails, restaurants, lodging properties and businesses they think should be a geotourism destination, said Peter Brumis, who is heading the project.
This effort is part of a sustainable tourism strategy by the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce in coordination with El Dorado County and several other programs and entities in an effort to diversify and strengthen the local economy and enhance the sense of community.
“I could nominate 100 things myself, but this a community-driven project,” Brumis said.
Currently the project has about 30 nominations, but it needs between 200 and 300 nominations to be successful, Brumis said.
“We’d like to have as many as possible,” Brumis said.
