Gerrard tops best Boston Marathon time

South Lake Tahoe’s Ken Gerrard ran his best Boston Marathon time in completing the 114th running of the event on Monday.

Gerrard finished the 26.2-mile race in 3 hours, 49 minutes and 9 seconds — more than two minutes faster than his overall time last year.

The 53-year-old long-distance runner finished 12,539th overall.

Kenya’s Robert Cheruiyot won the race in 2:05:52. American Ryan Hall was fourth in 2:08:41 and Mammoth Lakes’ Mebrahtom Keflezighi finished fifth in 2:09:26.
