‘Get Out of My Crotch!’ reading to take place at LTCC

A reading of “Get Out of My Crotch! Twenty-One Writers Respond to America’s War on Women’s Rights and Reproductive Health” will be held Friday at Lake Tahoe Community College.

“Get Out of My Crotch!” was published Tuesday by Cherry Bomb Books, a new imprint under Bona Fide Books. Bona Fide Books publisher Kim Wyatt wrote some of her favorite writers, including Roxane Gay, Lidia Yuknavitch and Katha Pollitt, proposing a collection based on these issues and the writers agreed; but Bona Fide Books wasn’t the right place for the collection, so Cherry Bomb was born. Co-editor Sari Botton and Wyatt decided to push the publication of the book up to Tuesday, the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and schedule readings around the country that week.

The reading will take place at 7 p.m. at the college, 1 College Drive. Contributors including Camille Hayes and Janet Frishberg will read from essays on the Violence Against Women Act, women’s health care and choice. The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase.
