‘Get Ready’ campaign encourages emergency preparedness

Staff reports

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The El Dorado County Health Services Department is encouraging all residents to make sure they have updated preparedness plans and supplies readily available in the event of a local disaster.

September is National Preparedness Month and Sept. 20 is Get Ready Day.

“Get Ready Day reminds us that every individual can take important steps to prepare for all kinds of emergencies,” said Chris Weston, Program Manager with the Health Services Department. “Now is the time to evaluate your own preparedness needs and make a personal emergency plan, so that you can be better prepared for any situation.”

The Health Services Department’s Public Health Preparedness staff will visit with seniors to provide information on how they can be better prepared from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Senior Center in South Lake Tahoe, located at 3050 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
