Get ready for March kindergarten enrollment at Zephyr Cove

William Ferchland, Tahoe Daily Tribune

Parents planning to enroll their children in kindergarten at Zephyr Cove Elementary for the 2002-03 school year must do so during the first weeks of March.

Kindergarten preregistration beings March 4 and ends March 15. Interested parents should drop by the school from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during those dates to register their child.

Nevada School Law states a child should be 5 years old by Sept. 30, 2002 to attend next year’s kindergarten class.

A current immunization record, signed by a doctor or nurse, and a birth certificate must be presented for registration.

On September 7, 2001, the Nevada State Board of Health adopted changes to codes that required children enrolling into public and private schools to be vaccinated against hepatitis A, hepatitis B and chicken pox.

Immunizations can be obtained from a private physician or the Douglas County Public Health Nurse provides immunizations by appointment Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Parents should call Pat Thomas at (775) 586-7235 or (775) 782-9038 to set up an appointment at 175 Highway 50 at Stateline.
