Get some exercise, help youths at same time

Tahoe Turning Point is hosting a summerlong event called “Hike-a-Peak, Help-a-Teen,” which will run through Oct. 15.

Enthusiasts can win prizes for completing different hiking goals while enjoying the outdoors. Forms are available at Freshies, Jamba Juice, Sports Ltd., Sierra Ski & Cycle Works, and Tahoe Turning Point at 2494 Lake Tahoe Blvd, C-3.

After registering, hikers can choose any peak and, upon reaching the summit, must take a picture of themselves and send it to roxnsnow@yahoo.com.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

— Most peaks hiked.

— Most peaks over 10,000 feet.

TTP is a group home for boys who are receiving counseling and guidance with drug and alcohol problems.
