German beer, German maidens, German food. What could be better?

With the fall colors lurking around the corner, it is time to prepare for Oktoberfest.

On Wednesday night, the Kiwanis Club of Tahoe Sierra will host its third annual Oktoberfest at the Horizon Casino Resort.

The evening gets under way at 6 p.m. with a V.I.P. party which will offer an hour of wine tasting along with cheese and crackers. The price for the V.I.P. party is $35 per person, with reserved tables of eight for $300.

When the general admission doors open at 7 p.m., dance to the music of Al Moss and The RipTides.

The Marcia Sarosik Dancers will perform a few dance numbers, and there will be plenty of envelope raffles and silent auction items.

A portion of the proceeds of the evening event will be directed to the relief effort of Kiwanis International for the Hurricane Katrina disaster and the South Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club for playground equipment.

For tickets and information, call Mark Lilly at Lilly’s Tire Service at (530) 544-2297 or Mike Foster at (530) 544-2864.
