Gingerbread fun time in Meyers

Meyers Elementary School fifth-grade class will offer festive holiday decorate-you-own gingerbread houses from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 in the school multipurpose room.

Professional chef Don Ewing has already baked the gingerbread. The entire family is welcome to come and decorate the houses by adding icing and candy decorations.

The event will include holiday photos, snacks, homemade cookie dough, mistletoe, handcrafted ornaments and holiday music. A visit from Santa is expected, too.

Gingerbread houses must be preordered and paid for in advance by Dec. 6. To order, stop by the Meyers Elementary School office during school hours. Make checks payable to the Meyers PTA. A limited number of gingerbread houses have been baked and can be purchased at the door. All proceeds will go toward the Meyers fifth-grade class end- of-the-year trip to the Marine Science Institute in Redwood City, Calif., and Coyote Point Environmental Museum in San Mateo, Calif.

Anyone who can’t make it on Dec. 12 to decorate, but would like their gingerbread house packaged as a “to go” kit instead, can let the office know when they order their house and they will be contacted when it is ready to pick up.
