Glaucoma screening available

According to the latest statistics about three million Americans suffer from glaucoma, yet only half are diagnosed. Annually 120,000 Americans are blind from glaucoma and 4,500 more go blind.

The “Know Your Eye Pressure” campaign is designed to help educate Americans about the risks of glaucoma and ensure that consumers know where eye care help is available. TV personality Willard Scott, who is well known to millions of Americans as the weatherman for NBC’s “Today Show,” will bring the Know Your Eye Pressure national glaucoma awareness program to Sacramento on Feb. 23.

Free glaucoma screenings have been scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Highlands Community Center. For more information call Prevent Blindness Northern California at 1-800-338-3041.
